　２００２年２月４日遺伝子組み換え飼料で肥育されている豚を、大量に輸出している、デンマーク豚肉出荷協同組合に、以下のような申し入れをいたしました。英文でもいたしましたので、それぞれの団体でも、ぜひ申し入れに取り組んでください。英文の太字部分を皆さんの団体名、個人名に直して出してください。

遺伝子組み換え飼料で育てられているデンマーク産豚の輸入についての申し入れ

私たちは、遺伝子組み換え食品について、市民の立場から、広範な連携を組んで運動しているネットワークです。
　早速ですが、貴組合が、遺伝子組み換え飼料で肥育されている豚を、大量に輸出されているとの情報を得ました。私たちは、これらの遺伝子組み換え食品ならびに、飼料をなくすための活動を行っています。以下の点について、申し入れさせていただきます。私たちの意図するところを充分お酌み取りいただきますようお願い申し上げます。

１．日本は2000年に20万トン以上の豚肉（日本円で835億円相当）を貴組合から輸入しているとのことです。貴組合にとって最大の輸出市場となっているのは日本で、貴組合の豚肉部門の売上の30%以上が日本への輸出による収益だということです。これらの豚は遺伝子組み換え飼料で肥育されていますが、消費者にはその旨は伝えられていません。貴社が輸出されるに際して、遺伝子組み換え飼料で肥育された豚であると表示されることを求めます。

２、英国向けの輸出豚肉には、消費者の意向を汲んで、遺伝子組み換えでない飼料で肥育されてものへの転換を図っているとの情報がありますが、日本向けのものについても、遺伝子組み換えでない飼料で肥育されたものを輸出されるよう強く求めます。

A Letter of Demand on Denmark Pork, which is from pigs fed with GMO animal feedstuffs, exported to Japan

We, the NO! GMO Campaign, are a citizens' organization working for the GMO opposition movement in Japan.

We have learned that Danske Slagterier exports huge amounts of pork from pigs fed with GMO animal feedstuffs.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that we protest very strongly against GMOs and are working on an opposition movement to halt the domestic production and the import of GMOs and to create a labeling system to identify GMOs. We are seriously concerned that GMOs threaten our food safety and destroy our environment.

We wish to make the following demands.

Demands
1． We understand that Japan imported more than 200 thousand tons (amounting to 83.5 billion Japanese yen) of pork from Danske Slagterier in the year 2000. Japan is the largest export market for Danske Slagterier, and we have learned that more than 30% of its sales of pork is due to profit from the export of pork to Japan. Regarding the pork Danske Slagterier has exported to Japan, we have learned that the meat comes from pigs fed by GMO feedstuffs, but consumers in Japan have not been informed of this. . We demand that, when you export pork to Japan, the pork be clearly labeled as 'meat from pigs fed by GMO feedstuffs.'

2． We have heard that the pork you export to the U.K. has been changed to meat from pigs fed by non-GMO feedstuffs, taking the British consumers' will into consideration. We strongly demand that you export pork fed by non-GMO feedstuffs to Japan also.
